For too long, personal finance content has been dominated by a generic, one-size-fits-all approach that ignores the unique experiences and realities faced by Black women. It's a narrative that often dismisses our financial aspirations as frivolous, our concerns as insignificant, and our path to wealth as an insurmountable obstacle.

But imagine, if you will, a seasoned mentor, someone who understands the intricacies of managing money while also navigating the unique challenges of being a Black woman in America.  A sista who's been there, done that, and is ready to share her wisdom, her hard-earned knowledge, and her humor.  Someone who's not afraid to speak truth to power, to dismantle harmful myths, and to empower you to reach your financial goals.

That's exactly what Natasha does in this book. She's not afraid to get real. She encourages us to embrace the truth about our financial situations, to challenge the myths that hold us back, and to build a path to financial freedom that is rooted in authenticity.

Money Savvy Sistas Guide to Fun and Financial Freedom offers a roadmap tailored to our specific needs and challenges, a space where we can finally embrace the truth about the “Black Tax” – the invisible weight of family obligations, historical disadvantages, and systemic barriers that keep our bank accounts slim.

But one of the most powerful aspects of this book is its emphasis on mindset.  Natasha encourages us to shed the scarcity mentality and embrace abundance. She teaches us to value our time, prioritize our well-being, and most importantly, to believe in our own worthiness of financial success.

With the right mindset, achieving your biggest money goal stops feeling impossible and starts feeling inevitable. And when you’re done reading this book, you’ll realize that financial freedom is about more than just the stuff. It’s about creating a life where your money works for you and building a legacy for future generations.

I’ve said it a hundred times, but for better or worse, 2024 is a year for truth-tellers. We're tired of the lies, the sugar-coated advice, and the ‘hacks’ that ignore our reality and box us into becoming penny-pinching, self-denying, frugal martyrs.

When it comes to money, we need to be honest about our experiences, we need to acknowledge the systemic biases, we need to call out the insidious ways that systems are rigged to disadvantage us - but we also need to have FUN.

Natasha knows that. She helps us to redefine the “Strong Black Woman” stereotype, revealing it not as a badge of honor, but as a potential recipe for burnout. She encourages us to get real about what brings us joy, to prioritize what we truly value, and to spend our money in a way that aligns with those priorities, reflecting the life of abundance we deserve.

When Natasha asked me to write this foreword, she also told me about the powerful moment that led her to finally put the words that were in her heart on these pages. And I’m telling you, if you’re reading them - you were meant to. You're not too late. You're not too anything. You're exactly where you're supposed to be, so LOCK IN.

At the end of the day, building wealth isn’t a magic trick or something you have to wish for. It’s a series of calculated steps and decisions that you are fully capable of making. But sometimes even the most empowered queen needs a little guidance, and this book is a great first step.

So grab your favorite beverage (and maybe a snack), sit back, and get to work on your money story, sis. You deserve it.
